There is a Muffler Man on Route 43 in Hancock, Mass. outside of a farm equipment shop. It's definitely a Muffler Man. . . about 20 feet tall, hands in the classic position. He's "wearing" jeans and a t-shirt that reads "Green Valley Equipment Company." He's been there for years. I never thought much of him until I visited your site.
