In the 1960s, this Uncle Sam stood outside Toledo, Ohio. It was on Laskey Road, across from the Miracle Mile shopping center, in front of a restaurant named "Uncle Sam's." In the 1970s we watched it lowered and taken away as Uncle Sam's closed.

[jjoltss, 06/11/2011]The person had mentioned that there was a Giant Uncle Sam in Toledo...he took a walk north and is standing in Michigan now a few exits up US 23 on the west side.

The Uncle Sam statue along US 23 stands next to Exit 1 (1 mile north of Sylvania, Ohio). This statue has been moved and repainted several times. It once stood near the Toledo Express Airport on Airport Highway and at one time was painted to look like Abe Lincoln, with a black suit and hat instead of the famous Red, White, and Blue of Uncle Sam. The statue now stands across the highway from a big fireworks store and is used to draw attention for the run up to the 4th of July. Fireworks are illegal in Ohio, hence the reason it sits near the border. Still standing in good condition.
