Irish Hills Blarney Stone - Vague Recollections
While scanning some 35mm slides from the 1980s, we happened upon a couple of views of the Irish Hills Blarney Stone. A sign read "'COME' KISS THE BLARNEY STONE OF THE IRISH HILLS. FREE PARKING AT MYSTERY HILL." For our cameras, a passing lass offered a tender embrace with the ancient Emerald rock of luck.
Whether this landmark is still there, we have no idea. No tips, no evidence of active promotion. We're sure it was a real boulder, so perhaps the sign is gone, or just forgotten in the riot of signage for other Irish Hills entertainments.
And we still wonder why "COME" is in quotes.
