The Stephen F. Austin statue is not 76 feet tall (It may be that tall including its base). The Sam Houston statue in Huntsville, Texas, is 67 feet on a 10-foot base, and is the "World's Tallest Statue of an American Hero." The artist who built both, David Adickes, says that the Sam Houston is taller, yet the park at Angleton continues to use erroneous information to make their statue seem taller.

The 76-foot-tall statue of Texas forefather Stephen F. Austin was built in 2006 by Texas artist David Adickes -- who had earlier built a colossal Sam Houston statue outside of Huntsville. Stephen is slightly shorter than Sam, as they were in real life.
