There is a Muffler Man at Bill's Truck Stop Restaurant on I-85 south. He used be at the Sunoco in Salisbury at the corner of US-601 and US-70. Before that, he was at Mid-State Oil at US-601 and Old Wilkesboro Road.

He's still at Wild Bill's, but he's no longer facing the highway and has been turned to face the parking lot.

This is just to let you know that the cowboy-[pioneer giant] is still there. In the 1960s he was used by the first drive-thru in Birmingham, Alabama, called Wagon Ho (It was a huge covered wagon with this guy driving it.. ahhh childhood.). Anyway, just letting you know he still stands. Even though he has to be one of the worst mascots for a truck stop ever... you only see him when you've passed the exit!
[Aaron Bruchis, 05/07/2007]There's one outside of Lexington, NC on I-85 business. It stands outside of Bill's truckstop and (reputedly) whorehouse.

The bearded man with the vest, boots, and upraised arm is a fine roadside statue, but not a Muffler Man. It's variously described as a pioneer, a prospector, or a Daniel Boone. Several stand in spots across the country.
