Statue of the raising of the U.S. flag on Iwo Jima. Half a block from the National Museum of the Marine Corps. Wind and traffic permitting, you can get a pretty decent photo.
[skk, 02/14/2017]In searching for Iwo Jima statues on your site, one is identified in Cape Coral, Florida. More information on that statue identifies it as "one-third scale recreation of the original Marine Corps War Memorial is one of three in existence." I believe this comment refers to work actually done by the original sculptor, Felix DeWeldon. The Quantico statue appears to be another. Have no idea where the third is, but would like to find it.

A smaller and not nearly as well-known version of this famous statue. Easy to get to, which we like. Other versions are at the National Iwo Jima Memorial in Newington, Connecticut; the Marine Corps War Memorial in Arlington, Virginia; and the original in Harlingen, Texas.
