The Tic-Tac-Toe playing chicken is no longer at Reptile Gardens. The machine that housed the chicken broke and parts are not available to repair.
[Stephanie Elliott, 05/27/2016]An under-the-reptile-radar attraction at Reptile Gardens is Maniac, the largest crocodile in captivity in the Western Hemisphere (He is five inches longer than Maximo at St. Augustine Alligator Farm, and weighs well over half a ton). Maniac lives inside a glass enclosure. Feeding shows include live rats, which are tossed into Maniac's gaping mouth via a pole with a gripper claw at the end.
[Roadsideamerica.com Team, 12/11/2014]Reptile Gardens in Rapid City, South Dakota, closed its Bewitched Village Trained Animal Show in 2005 -- due, it claimed, to disinterest from the public. (Although certainly not from us.) But it kept "Bird Brain," its tourist-humbling tic-tac-toe-playing chicken, and its basketball-playing chicken as well -- and it intends to keep on keeping them, despite the wishes of Karen Davis, president of an animal rights group named United Poultry Concerns (UPC).
