The Town That Time Forgot

No more dinosaurs. They were all moved to Dinosaur Kingdom II in Natural Bridge.

[Messmerized, 06/29/2018]

The dinosaurs were all built by Mark Cline, who placed them in Glasgow as an April Fool's prank. When he opened his nearby dino park, the dinosaurs were moved to their new home.

Wilma or Raquel?

Dinosaur Ridden by Wilma Flintstone

Wilma Flintstone out for a ride on Dino the dinosaur. This fine piece of art is on the main drag of downtown Glasgow on the Glasgow Highway.

Wilma, maybe...but in our minds, the mannequin gal started as a nod to Rachel Welch in "One Million Years B.C."

The Town That Time Forgot

Looks like [the dinosaur with cavegirl Raquel Welch rider] is all that' s left. The restaurant is out of business and for sale. Still a nice little town and worth the detour.

Raquel Welch and Dinosaur.

The Town That Time Forgot

I drove through Glasgow, Virginia in mid-October to see if the rumors were true, and dinosaurs do indeed still roam the streets of small towns in western Virginia. As of that month, Mark Cline could still claim dominion over evolution, as I met this charming cave woman atop a brontosaurus on the main road through town. If memory serves, there was also a smaller stegosaurus standing guard by a local gas station, but it looks like the city's police force has done an otherwise adequate job of keeping prehistoric monsters out of Glasgow's business district.
