Alvord House of Leather guy
July 1999 jpeg of the Alvord House of Leather guy. He is located on Route 30. This region was historically a leather tanning and garment center and Alvord's House of Leather stands just north of a town called Gloversville where, rather obviously, leather gloves were made during the early part of this century.
There is little resemblance to a genuine muffler man, however. He stands, arms at his sides, atop a tree stump wearing dark-framed, Buddy Holly style glasses, a buckskin jacket, and knee high leather boots. Obviously not a M-Man, he may be one of a kind. I've seen him for almost twenty years on visits to relatives in the Adirondaks. He's very well kept and in excellent condition. Our sources report that the place will be converted into a day care facility soon.
