American Sign Museum
The warehouse where the owner is currently displaying is a small fraction of his impressive collection of all sorts of signs. He has them categorized by time period, with historical plaques providing background info on a few of the signs when it was available.
There's even a hands-on area where you can rearrange the lettering on a neon sign while learning about how they work.
[Cindy May, 03/27/2010]American Sign Museum - Carpet-cleaning Genies
The American Sign Museum has acquired and restored two approximately 21-ft. genies from the L.A. area. These genies have a face on both sides, meaning no back of their respective heads. They were for the Aladdin Carpet Cleaning business in Southern California. We are hoping to be able to install at least one at our Cincinnati site. It all depends upon zoning.
The photo shows the genies "before restoration," loaded onto a flatbed trailer in Los Angeles and then trucked to Glass Hand/Cleves, OH. They have since been restored: One at a cost of $4,500; the other at a cost of $6,000. The paint was completely stripped, fiberglass repaired, and new paint applied as much like the original colors as possible.
