Very cool!

The Discovery Channel was filming when I was there, so maybe no surprise, but a very fun and strange time it is. Old farm combines, some decorated, let loose in separate heats, reaching speeds of up to 15 mph, until only one remains. Also breathtaking is watching the referees run about blowing whistles, and trying to avoid getting run over. Between heats watch them weld the wheels back on, or join the other rednecks in the beer garden. The winning combine drives in the parade the next day. Proceeds go to local charity. Unbelievable.
[Dennis, 12/18/2004]We also know of Derbys in the towns of Lorain and Lancaster, Ohio. Combine Demo Derbys are usually once-a-year events, so it pays to call ahead. Sept. 2020: Photo added.
