White's Tire Muffler Man

Mr. White #2 is standing tall and is well groomed. Since he has not been mentioned since 2004, I thought I'd vouch for him.

Wilson M-Man #2 still in place.

Muffler Man - White's Tire #2

There was a tip posted recently that said one of the Wilson muffler men was missing. Dunno what this guy is talking about. I drove through Wilson yesterday, and both of the White's Tire muffler men are right where they're supposed to be. Your tipster says he visited three White's locations -- there're at least five current and former White's locations in Wilson that I know of -- so maybe he just didn't visit the location that has Muffler Man #2. MM#2 is definitely still there, waving to traffic on Hwy 264.

Also, all that stuff he says about there being different buildings behind Muffler Man #2 in each of the photos on RA is baloney. The shots just show different angles of the same building.

Muffler Man - White's Tire guy #2 missing?

The muffler man at White's Tires #2 seems to be gone. There are actually 3 locations of White's Tires in the town, one with the muffler man (#1) on the roof, which is still there, a warehouse/factory place which is in the black & white photo of MM #2 and another garage/store which is in the color photo of MM #2. And #2 is not at either location. Town residents did not seem to know of it being up in a long time.

White's Tire Muffler Man

My story of this muffler man goes like this: He is a large statue that stands to the side of the building with his right hand up waving at the traffic and left hand holding a tire. My friend told me that if you wave back to "Mr. White" you will have good luck. Well, I waved to him once on a trip, and had nothing but bad luck. He is not my friend. I pass him every time I am on my way to or from school in Greenville, NC

Muffler Man - White's Tire #2

Recently while visiting my girlfriend, I located a second muffler man in Wilson! I have seen the muffler man mentioned on the sightings page, he sports the trademark muffler man opposing hands. The particular one I located at another White's tire service in Wilson, is more a looming bunyan than muffler man. His right arm is raised in a waving position, while his left arm is down at his side. I can't recall if he is holding a tire in his left hand.
