Hog.

Monument to the Hog

Sign of the times -- now the pig is masked. Otherwise, it's still looking good.

The hog has been painted again, Roll Tide colors. And it's sponsored by a scrap metal company. We parked in the parking lot of a store about 100 yards away and walked along the road to get a closer look and take photos.

For those unaware, "Roll Tide" are the red colors of the Crimson Tide, the University of Alabama athletic teams.

Monument to the Hog - Battle Colors

War Eagle or Roll Tide! In honor of Iron Bowl weekend, the belly of the pig has been painted, beautifully I must say, with the school logo of Auburn University on one side and the University of Alabama school logo on the other. A vinyl sign gently waves in front, proclaiming that the winner gets the whole pig! Vivid colors of the logos are true -- a very important detail. Burnt orange and Navy blue of A U and the deep, dark red of the Crimson Tide's big A stood out against the twilight, leading the way north, the week of Thanksgiving, to the site of the Iron Bowl battlefield.

Just so you know, the Monument to the Hog now says "Save the Pig." There is no parking or anything for this attraction. You will have to park about 100 feet away and walk over to it.
