Button King Museum

Bishopville, South Carolina

Dalton "Button King" Stevens was often in the mood to perform a song or two for visitors to his small Button King Museum in Bishopville. During our 2010 visit, he sang "Insomniac Shuffle," and this self-penned ditty, "Button Man." Dalton Stevens passed away in 2016.

The Button King Sings! (2010)

[Dalton Stevens sings]

If you like the color of my clothes, will you give me buttons instead of a rose. Buttons can be square or round, they keep my pants from falling down.

I get bored nothing to do, I get out my needle, buttons in blue, red and yellow, black and white, people look at me and they say what a sight.

Sixteen thousand and a little more too - that's what you see on my button suit. Folks at home say it's getting out of hand, But I'm the one and only The Button Man.

Now I've made it to the record books. Gonna look back on just how long it took. Thank you for listening now you all be cool, while I find some buttons for my swimming pool. If you like to color of my clothes would you give me buttons instead of a rose.

Buttons can be square or round, they keep my pants from falling down.
