New York, New York: Only Poster Museum in the U.S.

According to its director, this is not an art museum. Also, posters are more fun to look at than art, and are designed to convey their message in three seconds or less. If one doesn't grab you, just move on to the next. Thousands of posters. Museum is kept cool, to protect the paper.

Made in Japan exhibit.

Only Poster Museum in the U.S.

The exhibits are always changing, so the posters I saw are completely different from what somebody else is going to see in a few months. There was an exhibit called "Black Power to Black People," with posters from the black panther movement; an exhibit called "Made in Japan," about the history of twentieth century Japanese poster art; and one called "The Revolution Will Be Digitized (typefaces from Emigre and Fuse)."

In the lobby there is an impressive gift shop, a cafe, and some permanent posters from around the world. There is also the poster machine, where you can design your own poster. You can put yourself into the posters, and then relieve yourself in a bathroom with posters on the wall.

It only takes a few minutes to walk the small exhibits here, but it is a fun experience, especially if you can make it on a free day.
