Muffler Man Bunyan
In 2021, the Hosmer Bunyan was damaged in a storm when a tree limb took out his arm and displaced his head. He had a non-standard head which was much heavier than the original so it caved in his chest and did significant structural damage.
The giant was removed from the front yard and placed in storage behind the barn. Recently I visited Hosmer and became acquainted with owner Sandra Barrett and she agreed to sell him to American Giants so that he can be fully restored and one day stand at the American Giants Museum in Atlanta, IL. The museum will recognize his Lethbridge, Fernie and Canadian history and provide historical photographs for his exhibit." He has been moved to Colorado where his restoration will take place and we hope to set him up in 2025.
[Joel Baker, 05/06/2023]The Hosmer Muffler Man was missing as of Feb 2, 2022. We drove by twice but could not spot him at his reported location east of Hwy 3. Maybe he hibernates for the winter?
[David H, 04/11/2022]Muffler Man Bunyan with Custom Head
I recently became aware of a 15-foot-tall Muffler Man lumberjack with a non-standard head in Hosmer. The giant stood in nearby Fernie for over 40 years outside OK Tire. When the business closed in 2008 the lumberjack was purchased by Sandra and David Barrett and moved to their home. It is not known what happened to his original head or how he got the current replacement.
