Invasion Station
Roswell, New Mexico
This old downtown Roswell gas station has been converted into a UFO-themed gift shop with a saucer on its roof.
Inside, there's some unusual original art of space-alien-versions of the Flintstones and other cartoon characters -- perhaps suggesting that all of our 2-D fantasies are, at heart, otherworldly -- as well as shelves of alien fridge magnets, coffee mugs, shot glasses, statues, masks, spoon rests, dog bowls, beverage koozies, lamps, hats, jewelry, socks, soap, keychains, bobbleheads, and outerwear and underwear with occasionally naughty Roswell-UFO messages ("Ship Happens," "Probin'").
Outside are various tourist-friendly photo-ops, including a ten-foot-tall chainsaw green space alien, and a wall mural of the 1947 Roswell saucer crash aftermath -- supposedly drawn from a first-hand account given by the grandfather of the Invasion Station's owners!
