Quirky Tourist Attractions in or near New Hampshire
While in New Hampshire, you might enjoy a visit to:
Eunice "Goody" Cole wasn't burned, but she did have a stake driven through her dead heart. Some 300 years later New Hampshire felt guilty and put a plaque on a rock in her memory.
This rock, with Viking runes, marks the AD 1004 grave of Thorvald, brother of Viking explorer Leif Eriksson and son of Erik the Red. Or -- maybe it's just a rock with scratches on it.
A lively reenactment of a historical witch trial begins in the street, and lures tourists to the preformance in the Old Town Hall. You get to be in the jury.
The Stenman family layered and pasted and rolled approximately 100,000 newspapers to make their dream home in 1929 -- and it's still standing.
