The Large Fiddle is set back from the road. I passed it and didn't see it. When I went back in the other direction, I saw the street sign for Poplar Lane and turned into the elementary school's circular drive. There it was!

Messer was born south of here in the hamlet of Tweedside. According to the fiddle's accompanying plaque, Messer was known in his early years for his "barn frolics." His variety show was one of Canada's favorite TV programs in the 1960s.
