The Strater Hotel began as a dream in the mind of 28-year-old Henry Strater who wanted to build the grandest hotel in the west - In 1887 the Strater House as it was first called when built was constructed of 376000 native red bricks - Although built in 1887 without modern conveniences the Strater Hotel has enjoyed an on going renovation for many years. Earl and Jentra Barker bought the hotel in the 1926 and began the renovation in the 1940s - The renovation is continued today under the direction of the current president Roderick Barker - Today we have the largest collection of American Walnut Antique furniture
