Mansfield Reformatory has become a prime location for prison movies and music videos, and a go-to destination for cable TV ghost hunters. Jeff Davis -- a bad man -- was whacked with a fireplace poker and lynched by the citizens of Ragersville, earning it the nickname "Hangtown." Davis's skeleton (and the poker) are displayed in the town museum. The Washboard hangs off of what may be the only washboard factory in the western hemisphere. Shrubs are regularly pruned to retain the shape of characters inspired by a painting by French Impressionist Georges Seurat. The effect is best from April through November. |
