 Quirky Tourist Attractions in or near TexasWhile in Texas, you might enjoy a visit to: Vince Hannemann's backyard folk art environment, built because he thinks it's fun. It's "Texas' only show cave with a 100 ft. waterfall" and a dinosaur. Big strawberries and strawberry art can be found around this small town, which holds an annual strawberry festival. About 100 concrete hippos are scattered throughout this community, including a large one in front of the high school. Apparently an escaped circus hippo in the early 20th century created quite a stir here. My favorite was a pair of hippos, with the girl in a yellow bikini. |
