The Inn at St John is conveniently located off the west end of Downtown Portland Maine. The Inn at St John has been providing travelers to this city with exemplary service for over 100 years. We are only a short distance from the Portland Jetport as well as the Portland Transportation Center which houses Concord Trailways and The Amtrak Downeaster. We are located one and a half miles from the Oldport. We now have a computer for guest use in the lobby of the inn.

 Quirky Tourist Attractions in or near MaineWhile in Maine, you might enjoy a visit to: A former farm and now a wasteland, with real sand dunes that have swallowed buildings. Take the tram tour and visit the Sand Museum. Captain John Smith, the man who coined the name "New England," gets no respect. His once-impressive monument, erected in 1864, has been reduced to a ruined base with a weather-hammered bronze plaque. This four-building complex was opened in 1916, a tribute to New Englander's tendency not to throw anything away. Also here: the last cougar killed in New Hampshire. It's a rock, and "large" does not do it justice. It's huge. It stands alone in the woods and has its own parking lot. |
