This place has been submitted once before as the Sword in the Pole, which is also pretty neat, but the real local attraction is the old ferris wheel. The last time we were out there the owner offered us a ride and said it was powered by the people riding the attraction. I wasn't wearing the right clothes to climb up into it, but the owner assured us it worked great and is a lot of fun.
He also has several old vehicles and motorcycles, some of which are restored. There are several old ambulances that look like the Ghost Busters wagon, old Buicks, Desotos, Dodges, a couple motorcycle limos, and a old Dodge truck that's been turned into a 3-wheeled wonder.
The gift shop was closed a few summers ago, but he offered a look at what was left inside. Some neat stuff from "A Christmas Story," such as the leg lamp and a red ryder bb gun, along with some hand crafted stuff but other than that there wasn't much left.
The entire property outside is really worth a look if your into old cars and strange conversation pieces. The guy was very nice about letting us look around because we pulled in and asked.

The ship "Chacon" was designed by Leslie Geary and built in Seattle by Johnson Brothers and Blanchard in 1912 to be used in the Alaska fishing industry. The boat struck a boom cable, causing damage to the bow, and was beached. She was refloated and hauled up to Anchorage and taken out of the water and moved to Chugiak to be restored, which unfortunately did not happen.
The boat is badly deteriorated and shows a lot of vandal damage but, nevertheless, maintains an imposing presence along the Old Glenn Highway. The owners light it up during the holidays and it has a somewhat eerie fascination with passers-by.
