Muffler Man of Bakersfield California is one of the lucky ones. A fine specimen of the Indian variety, he spent 17 years lying behind a school before a cowboy finally vowed to give the "Warrior" a good home at his ranch. When the ranch was sold, the cowboy kept his word and had the Warrior moved to a place of honor, standing proud atop a pedestal wrapped with bricks engraved with the names of sponsors along with this sordid tale. Interestingly, the Warrior, like many other Muffler Men across the nation, has survived being pelted with arrows in the chest.

This big Indian dude appeared recently next to a popular biker watering hole in northeast Bakersfield. I think he might be a reconfigured muffler man, or possibly a close relative.
[Gwen Barnes, 10/05/2001] - Bakersfield, California - Air Conditioning Duct Man
Saw this attraction on your site and decided to investigate on a recent trip to Death Valley. Unfortunately for us, and the Air Conditioner Duct Man, the business has now changed from American Air, Heating, and Air Conditioning to Allen Instruments and Supply, so the duct man is now gone. We were bummed to say the least.

A huge man -- over 10 feet tall -- made entirely of air conditioning duct work. I travel around the country to different air conditioning contractors and discovered this duct man at a recent visit in Bakersfield. He is in front of American Air, Heating and Air Conditioning.
[Mike Sims, 09/25/2004]This is in Buck Owens Crystal Palace, which is now a cheap tourist trap with mediocre food, featuring cheesy bands that would make Buck roll over in his grave. The statues are cheesy popular country music stars that have nothing to do with the Bakersfield Sound or Buck's music.
