I felt a deep and spartan kinship with this lighthouse. I lay my hands against the peeling paint on a few of the weathered stones that comprise her, and felt a tear well up in the corner of my eye. I brushed the drop away with a finger and wiped it ceremoniously against the stones. I could not provide the ocean, save for that which comes from within; a small, salty solace from the corner of my eye.

- Directions:
- I-15 exit 57. Turn west onto Cross Hollow Rd, then a quick left at the stoplight onto S. Providence Center Drive, then another quick left into the parking lot.
It's the only working lighthouse in landlocked West Virginia. You can climb the 122 step spiral staircase to the top and get 360-degree views of the area.

- From Summersville drive south on US-19 for six miles. Turn west at the stoplight onto WV-129. Drive a quarter-mile. Turn right at the Summersville Lake Retreat sign. You'll see the lighthouse ahead, on the right.

The mini lighthouse is located right next to a cornfield and a red and white barn. Weirdly interesting.

- Directions:
- From Washington take Hwy 264 east, then Hwy 92. Drive five miles, then turn left onto Hwy 1339/Creek Rd. Drive two miles and the lighthouse will be on your left. If you cross the bridge into Bath you drove too far.

- Southeast of downtown. From UT-198/S. Main St. turn east at the stoplight to continue on UT-198. Follow UT-198 for eight blocks. You'll see the small lighthouse on the left, at the corner of UT-198/E. Canyon Rd and S 800 E.
The lighthouse was erected for Providence Shopping Center in Cedar City. The paint is starting to chip and fade in places, but it's still there. Its developers claimed that this was the tallest inland lighthouse in the United States -- 88 feet high -- when it was built in 2000.

The lighthouse looks old and real, and is climbable, but it was built out of a wind turbine tower and first lit on June 20, 2013. No ships have ever been saved by this lighthouse, although it helps with navigation for the local airport.
