Mounted on a tall pole, safe from pranksters, musician/composer Zappa keeps watch over a library because he liked libraries. It was a gift from a Frank Zappa fan club in Lithuania.

- Southeast Anchor Library. I-95 exit 59. Drive west on Eastern Ave./Hwy 150 for a little over 1.5 miles. Cross under the train tracks, then Haven St., and the bust-on-a-pole will be four blocks on the left, at the corner of Eastern Ave. and Conkling St., in the plaza in front of the Southeast Anchor Library.

Frank Zappa's head on a pole (a gift from people in Lithuania who like his art) welcomes you to the Enoch Pratt Free Library in the Highlandtown neighborhood of Baltimore. It was recently jazzed up for the holidays.

Frank Zappa (1940-1993) was the musical genius who gave the world "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow," "Stinkfoot," and "Weasels Ripped My Flesh." Zappa was born in Baltimore. His mother was a librarian.
