A Muffler Man stood outside of a wood and mulch business. In a previous life, he stood indoor at a Melrose Park flea market; before that, at a lumber store. May 2018: removed. Sept. 2021: statue reported sold by new business owners.

Stopped by to see if the Lumberjacks Muffler Man has reappeared, but he was still MIA. The business there now is Red Oak Tree Service, so they may have no need for the former lumberjack mascot.
[David H, 05/26/2021]My husband and I drove a few hours to tick off three Muffler Men in Crystal Lake but, sadly, only two were there. We followed the directions and matched buildings, and it looks like the Muffler Man outside Lumberjacks has been removed.

We were visiting friends in Chicago and decided to make a day trip out to the lakes northwest of the city. We were following highway 176 going east out of Crystal Lake when we happened to spot this old muffler man. The sacks he is holding are full of wood chunks.
