Rainmaker metal shop Grotto filled with metal art, stone paths and bridges, and a fish pond. Amazing hidden garden behind a quirky little metal crafts shop on the downtown Makanda (pop. 450) Boardwalk. A must see for anybody visiting nearby Giant City State Park or Lodge. Seems to be run by old area hippies. They have mini live music festivals and sell metal and wood art, jewelry, and furniture.
[ThorEric, 10/12/2014]In Makanda there is a copper artist that has built an unusual garden. It is behind his shop and has mazes, bridges, ponds, statues, sculpture, a small creek, cave (actually a very old underpass), etc. To reach it you go through his shop, he is friendly and allowed us to go see it. My 7 years old son loved it. Very fun to explore. Took maybe a half-hour.
