The horse statue is positioned on the remaining piling of a bridge demolished in 1953. Until it closed in the 1980s the large textile mill in town used the image of a dashing steed as its logo. In 1996, the statue was added to the bridge piling, with a sign touting the Pacolet Trojans sports teams.
