The Pasadena Museum of History (470 W Walnut St,) has a 1920s-era menu from The Rite Spot in Pasadena where the cheeseburger was invented in 1924, as documented by the Los Angeles Times, Hamburger America, and many more (including Time magazine, which published Lionel Sternberger's obit as the inventor of the cheeseburger). Each January the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce organizes Cheeseburger Week to celebrate Lionel Sternberger's culinary genius.
[Paul Little, 11/06/2017] A plaque on the site of the (long gone) Rite Spot roadside stand marks the spot where, "16-year-old Lionel Sternberger first put cheese on a hamburger and served it to a customer." This was in 1924, and has been well-documented.
