Just north of I-70 exit to Salina, UT, in front of the Super 8 and a defunct Denny's (there's a new one across the street) This concrete Native American faces the west wearing what appears to be a loincloth that is 3 sizes too big and holding what appears to be a snake. Apparently he's been stuck standing there for a while. When you walk around to the back it looks as though he pooped his loin cloth, or maybe someone painted it to look that way.
The waitress at Mom's Diner in town thought it might be a left over from another restaurant called the Safari, maybe that's why he has the snake but what's with the tomahawk?
[S Brian Berkun, 03/25/2016]Former Milkshake Enslaved Man:- Address:
- S. State St., Salina, UT
- Directions:
- Just north of I-70 exit 56, on S. State St., near the Safari Motel and Subway.
There's a big red ant hill right next to the Former Milkshake Slave Man statue, so wear closed-toe shoes if you want a photo.

Classic! Just watch out for the red ants under the statue...
[Rod, 07/19/2010] I sent you a picture of this statue when he was the "Milkshake Slave Man," holding what we always joked was a milkshake. In 2004, much to our dismay, we discovered that he had been changed into a Native American and the milkshake was replaced with an axe.
[Keri Voigt, 11/21/2005]I know nothing about this attraction except that I visit it every year on my way to California from Colorado. It is a large statue of some sort of slave man (he is wrapped in chains) and he is holding what my family decided looks like a milkshake. You can find him just off of I-70 (Take the Salina exit...not sure what street it is.) He is standing outside near the Safari Motel.
