- Cave City, Kentucky - Guntown Mountain
Stopped in Cave City to see a few things, and some very nice locals told us that Guntown Mountain is closed and is being sold. From the road we could see old signs and buildings for the attractions, but they looked pretty broken down.

Many worthy items in this military museum, including Hitler's walking stick and an atomic mortar -- one of the dumbest weapons ever invented.

- Cave City, Kentucky - Guntown Mountain
Guntown Mountain is back -- as Guntown Mountain. The classic 1960s Wild West attraction was, for one brief summer in 2015, reinvented as "Funtown Mountain," an ambitious post-ironic bizarro project by Louisville entrepreneur Will Russell. The Funtown Mountain concept failed spectacularly, and it took three years to clean up the mess and reopen the attraction as Guntown Mountain. The Haunted Hotel at the base of the hill is an old standby, and vans now shuttle visitors up the mountain to see the Wild West town and its staged shootouts (The old chairlift is still out of commission).
We're just happy that the gunfights are back.
[RoadsideAmerica.com Team, 08/20/2018] Will Russell let us know the latest on his Guntown Mountain project. He's in the final negotiations purchasing the classic Cave City attraction, which includes a Wild West town, haunted hotel, ski lift, and other amusements. His plan is to turn it into "Funtown Mountain" and introduce some creative new elements. "I am the ringmaster of the Kentucky carnival that will be known as Funtown mountain," wrote Will.
Will and his cohorts are wandering the grounds and Cave City today.

Guntown Mountain was hopeful about its chances this time last year, but the property appears to have been be hexed ever since its failed "Funtown Mountain" experiment of 2015.
