Largest Glowing Heart
Alamogordo, New Mexico
Completed in May 2018, the heart is 26 feet tall, 20 feet wide, and is designed to withstand desert winds up to 114 mph. The pistachio farm that commissioned it calls it "the largest known heart structure in the world," and has submitted it to Guinness World Records for official certification. The farm also claims that the heart's illuminated outline can be seen for miles down the desert highway at night.
According to the Alamogordo Daily News, the glowing heart quickly became a popular spot for marriage proposals.
Roadside America pundits may ponder why this isn't an outline of an anatomically accurate human heart -- spurting neon -- which would be way cooler. However, that's just not the world we live in.
