Anderson's View Point in Cape Lookout State Park features a tripod memorial to a surveyor.

If you're looking for something obscure to see with a great view of the Oregon coast and are near Tillamook, go check this out. It's a lonely surveyor's transit tripod and mounting base, protected in a triangle of guard rail, to memorialize Billy Anderson, the Tillamook County Surveyor.
This site has a fantastic view of the ocean, the beach, Three Arched Rocks, and Cape Meares (but there's not much of a view on a foggy day). It is comforting to know that Billy's years of dedication to the County of Tillamook are memorialized on such attractive real estate.
