The Wigwam Motel had an empty parking lot and dumpster out front. It seems to have see busier days. The paint is peeling from the neon sign, but it's still iconic!

Next to the Milk Bottle Building is a Vietnam War Memorial; across the street is a now vacant Golden Dome building -- the fifth in the world, designed by Buckminister Fuller. The Milk Bottle is located on historic Route 66.

- I-235 exit onto NW 36th St. Drive west about a mile, then turn south onto Classen Blvd. Drive south 12 blocks. The Milk Bottle is at the corner of Classen and NW 24th St., on the northbound side.
The sign is in pretty good shape compared to others in the area. The neon Yes and No for vacancies makes it even more unique. This strip is full of memorabilia from times gone by.

The Gelman Stained Glass Museum has stained glass windows from several different churches that have been saved. It's been open for a couple years. I spent over two hours there.
[Daryl Allison, 05/07/2024]The museum opened in late 2021. Although the building resembles an old Roman Catholic church, it's a new custom structure. All of the windows are illuminated from behind, even after dark.

The "Flue" sculptor, Thomas Sayre, creates large-scale works of art by digging into the earth and pouring in concrete.
[steve adams, 05/07/2024]Sayre said that Flue, erected in 2017, was built on the site of a former tobacco warehouse, and that the shapes mimic the facades of tobacco barns.
