Uncle Sam's Grave Still Closed After Vandalism and Flag Burning
In mid-March, two vandals went on a rampage of desecration in Troy, New York's Oakwood Cemetery, where Uncle Sam is buried. Sam "Uncle Sam" Wilson's decorative urn and headstone were damaged, and a flag pole was knocked over, the American flag set on fire. The ghouls knocked over five other headstones. Officials offered a reward, and two suspects where apprehended (one was already in jail on an unrelated charge). The cemetery is once again open to the public, although the Uncle Sam plot has been cordoned off for the time being...

- In Oakwood Cemetery, just north of the city. Enter at the southern gate off of Hwy 40/Oakwood Ave. Drive past the big entrance house and keep an eye out for the small "Uncle Sam Grave" directional signs. It's a big cemetery with winding roads, and you'll probably get lost, but you should eventually find it. There's a flagpole next to the tombstone. Grave coordinates: 42.762481,-73.668111
