Plans to move the Sipesville Fire Hall to the Quecreek Rescue Memorial site have been cancelled. As we reported in our visit story, the folks at Quecreek were hoping to transport the original firehall to the rescue site, since the building was a critical information and assembly hub for families during the mine flood crisis.
Turns out the old hall is too fragile and difficult to move -- so it'll be dismantled, and some of the pieces will be used to create a replica on the rescue site. [08/22/2006]
