aine artist John Gable this week installed his 12-ft.-high, 65-ft-long mural in the new Automotive Hall of Fame, which will open August 16th in Dearborn, MI.
The mural will be exhibited in a circular room called "The Dedication Center." It contains nearly 100 scenes that show how motor vehicles have influenced the lifestyle of the world: "A century in sixty-five feet."
"The mural is a tribute to the people who pursued their dream of personal mobility and changed the world," said Gene McKinney, President of the Hall. Etched in a mahogany "reader rail" in front of the mammoth mural are the honored names and signatures of the Hall's 155 inductees.
Before becoming a fine artist, Gable worked for General Motors, and helped design the 1982 Pontiac Firebird. [07/27/1997]
