Fruita Chicken

Headless chicken sculpted

A statue commemorating Mike the Headless Chicken now stands in Fruita, Colorado. The town sprang into the headlines last year when it chose the true-life story of a local decapitated living chicken as a civic theme. A festival is held each May. The statue, constructed from ax blades, rake teeth and other sharp implements, now provides Fruita with a permanent photo opportunity for visitors. The festival will be held May 19-20.
