Though Hollywood film star Ava Gardner has been dead since 1990, public interest continues, as evidenced by a press release from the Ava Gardner Museum. The release notes 83-year old Gregory Peck recently appeared in a 30-second TV spot promoting the museum that honors his life-long friend.
Ava's first husband, Mickie Rooney is coming to Smithfield to perform his "One-Man, One-Wife" Show, April 26th at the Paul A. Johnston Auditorium (Call 919-934-2099 for tickets). Rooney plans to visit the museum as well as Ava's graveside while in town.
Museum hours are Monday-Saturday, 9:00am-5:00pm and Sunday, 2:00pm-5:00pm. The new location is 325 E. Market Street, 1.2 miles from I-95. Admissions costs are $4.00 adults, $3.00 for seniors, teenagers and groups, and $2.00 for children under 12. [03/11/2001]
