The Ice Cream Capital of the World Visitor Center in Le Mars, Iowa is readying itself for the busy spring and summer tourist season. And starting April 2, it will be open until 8 pm every day.
At the Ice Cream Capital of the World Visitor Center you can learn the history of ice cream, lose yourself (if not weight) inside a host of interactive exhibits, get a glimpse of the goings on at the world's largest ice cream plant. More ice cream is produced by one company in one location in Le Mars, (25 miles north of Sioux City) than anywhere else.
Last year, in its inaugural season, more than 32,000 people passed through the doors, and was named the 2000 Iowa Tourism Attraction of the Year. [04/09/2001]
