The town of Winlock, Washington recently decided to display their patriotism by transforming the "World's Largest Egg" into an ovoid American flag. The project was rendered by Winlock High School's art class in the wake of the Sept. 11th terror attacks. The stars and stripes are painted on the normally white surface of the concrete egg. On the back it reads "God Bless America."
We like this creative turn on the typical "shove a flag in the statue's hands" approach. No word on how long the town will keep the flag decoration.
Winlock holds its annual Egg Day Festival on the third weekend in June.
We also noticed a large sign in the background of one of the photos promoting Winlock as "Home of the World Championship Women Log Rollers." [07/07/2002]
