Franklin Mint to lay off 200

We have long been fans of the Franklin Mint Museum in Franklin Center, PA. This week, the company announced that they were curtailing the production of limited edition figurines, and would be laying off 2/3rds of its workforce. A spokesman said that the firm plans to shift focus to dies-cast cars, airplanes and Harley-Davidson memorabilia. [11/16/2003]
