The Hot Dog Muffler Man has been installed at a new location in Atlanta, Illinois. He stood for nearly 40 years in front of Bunyon's on Ogden Avenue in Berwyn, Illinois, until that fine eatery closed in early 2003. The owners solicited buyers, and had cash offers of as much as $10,000, but in the end they decided to place the 19-ft. tall statue on permanent loan to the town of Atlanta as part of a Route 66 heritage exhibit.
Hot Dog Man, now being referred to as "Tall Paul" (as in Bunyan) underwent months of renovation, including painting and repairs to an assortment of arrow and bullet wounds. He will continue to hold the giant hot dog.
