James Brown statue may be unveiled once bruises fade

The 70-year old "Godfather of Soul," James Brown, is still in the doghouse over a January 2004 domestic violence charge. The city of Augusta, Georgia has decided to wait a bit for Mr. Brown to get out of the news before dedicating a new statue celebrating the hometown celebrity. [05/31/2004]

Directions:: Downtown. The statue stands in the tree-shaded median of Broad St., between 8th and 9th Sts.
