- Seguin, Texas - World's Largest Pecan
We had the dubious honor of being stuck, uh, allowed to visit the town of Seguin, Texas for r.v. repairs in November, 1997. After searching in vain for our usual souvenir postcard without finding one anywhere in town, one of the locals finally fessed up that there was just nothing in town worthy of a postcard. Pretty hard to believe considering the crappy postcards one finds around these days. But as you begin to know Seguin, you begin to understand. This is pecan country and in a valiant effort to keep from going down in history with nothing to say for itself, the town has placed "the world's largest pecan" on the lawn in front of the courthouse. This is a metal sculpture about five feet long that looks like, well, like a pecan, (in the shell which is definitely the most boring part of the pecan).

This location was such a pleasure to visit. Wonderful employees that were so informative towards pecan history and fun facts. Recently Pape's Pecan House has opened a second location about 1.5 miles away that includes a Nutcracker Museum.
[Monica McThreadgold, 01/26/2013]A 10-ft. tall fiberglass steel-framed sculpture of a "Desirable Pecan" stands on a truck frame with wheels, next to the Pape Pecan House (www.papepecan.com). A sign at its base reads "Pape Pecan Co." Seguin is also home to the "World's Largest Pecan," which is now third largest in size. John Pape promotes his as the "World's Largest Mobile Pecan, " and built it three years ago so that it would be the world's largest. He didn't know about the one in Brunswick, Missouri (a story in today's San Antonio Express mentions roadsideamerica.com's coverage of the pecan battle).
[Roadsideamerica.com Team, 02/08/2005]We came back. The World's Largest Pecan is still here.
[Shelley Anderson-Ledwig, 12/23/2020]Something as large as the World's Largest Pecan isn't likely to move, but checking in anyway is appreciated.

An okay stop east of San Antonio. Bested for the title by the big pecan in Brunswick, Missouri.
