Hall of Fumes - World's Most Foul Sneakers

"They smell like dog droppings, and another smell I can't identify," said Sasha Miranda, age 11, of Las Cruces, NM. Sasha and her sneakers took top honors in the 22nd annual Odor Eaters International Rotten Sneaker Contest.

The contest took place in city hall auditorium of Montpelier, home of Odor-Eaters brand shoe inserts. Trophies were presented by Montpelier's newly-elected Mayor, Chuck Karparis, a participant in the first Rotten Sneaker Contest in 1976. "Judging this contest was my first official duty as mayor of Montpelier, the Rotten Sneaker Capital of the World."

For her efforts, Sasha received a year's supply of Odor-Eaters. Her shoes were enshrined at the Hall of Fumes in Montpelier. [03/31/1997]
