Statue salutes Beetle Bailey creator

A half-ton bronze statue of Beetle Bailey is being moved to the University of Missouri campus where the lay about enlisted man cartoon character was conjured. Mort Walker created Bailey while hanging out at a local beer joint called the Shack, which burned down in 1988. The sculpture shows Bailey sitting with a beer. [06/19/1999]

Directions:: In front of the Reynolds Alumni Center on the University of Missouri campus. I-70 exit 126. South on Hwy 163/Providence Rd almost two miles, then left onto Turner Ave. The Alumni Center is one block north, on Conley Ave.
