On the University of Missouri campus there is a life-size statue of Beetle Bailey as a college student. Mort Walker (the writer of the Beetle Bailey comic strip) was a student at the University and started the comic strip there with Beetle as a college student.[Bryan, 02/17/2002]
The statue was erected in front of the alumni center in 1992; cartoonist and alum Mort Walker attended the dedication.
A half-ton bronze statue of Beetle Bailey is being moved to the University of Missouri campus where the lay about enlisted man cartoon character was conjured.
